Flag City Honor Flight Program

All Veterans should have the opportunity to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C. that honor their military service and the sacrifices they made for America’s freedom. We make these visits possible.

kilroy_icon The Reason

  • Because America felt it was important to build a memorial to the service and the ultimate sacrifice of her veterans, the Honor Flight Network believes it's equally important that they actually get to visit and experience THEIR memorial.
  • Some Veterans do not have the financial or physical ability to travel to the monuments built in their honor.
  • Flag City Honor Flight is trying to make this trip possible for veterans in Hancock County and surrounding communities.
  • Time is of the essence. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII Veterans die each day.
  • Together with other Honor Flight Hubs in the nation, we work towards a common goal - to bring our Veterans to their place of Honor.

The Cost

  • It costs more than $1,000 for each Veteran to fly to Washington, D.C. with Flag City Honor Flight.
  • NONE of this amount is paid by the Veteran.
  • Instead, the program is 100% funded by public donation, and it is accomplished by the dedicated work of volunteers.

Goal

America felt it was important to build a memorial to the service and the ultimate sacrifice of her veterans, and the Honor Flight Network believes it's equally important to ensure that they actually get to visit and experience THEIR memorial if they are willing and able.

Priority

Top priority is given to America's most senior heroes — survivors of World War II, and any veteran with a terminal illness who wishes to visit THEIR memorial. The program will naturally transition to Korean War, Vietnam War and all other Veterans who served, on a chronological basis.

Eligibility

ALL men and women who have served in the military: both overseas and stateside.
We are currently accepting applications for World War II and Korean War Veterans.
