Guidelines
All Guardians must be in good health and able to do the following:
- Lift 50 lbs.
- Push 200 lbs.
- Transfer Veterans in and out of wheelchairs/seats
- Lift a wheelchair
- Push/pull a wheelchair long distances (the equivalence of 10-15 miles)
- Bend over to tie shoes, or pick up items for Veterans
- Multi-task in order to assist two Veterans if asked
Guardians cannot be a spouse or significant other.
Guardians may not consume alcohol the day of the flight.
All Guardians must attend Guardian training, which is scheduled on the Sunday before the flight.
Anyone who meets these requirements may apply. There is NO guarantee that you will be selected to be a Guardian on a flight. Family Guardians must also meet these requirements, but there is still NO guarantee.
The flight and meals will be provided FREE to the Veteran, but as a Guardian, we require a tax-deductible $400.00 donation after your application is approved.

As of May 7, 2025, ALL airline passengers are required to present a REAL ID compliant license or acceptable alternative identification to pass through security at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints.
